Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Finance Assistant to join our team in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso.

The Finance Assistant is responsible to provide support to Malaria Consortium Country Office Finance Team and maintenance of accounts including mobile payment transactions according to Malaria Consortium financial manual. This include :

Payment mobilization

  • Verify reference lists, payment statements
  • Initiate payments in the payment platform 
  • Generate and reconcile payment reports with payment lists and statements
  • Ensure monthly reconciliation of the mobile payment account and submit for validation
  • Process complaints received from the Program
  • Produce the payment run report and the required comments
  • Prepare expense claims
  • Ensure taxes are declared on esyntax and CNSS platform and paid within the deadline
  • Collect payments documents, check and submit to the Finance Officer
  • Ensure two-way communication with internal and external collaborators
  • Report any difficulties related to payments to the Finance Officer

Accounting

  • Support the Finances Officer and/or the Accountant in the follow-up of the partners' financing plan
  • Follow -up on bank transfers remittances and collect proof of payments on time
  • Ensure receipt, verification of receipts and production of claims from partners
  • Ensure monthly filing and proper filing of accounting documents

Organization of Malaria Consortium missions and meetings

  • Proceed with the closing of missions’ advances and the payment of balances or the refund
  • Ensure refunds deposit within the deadline into bank account
  • Proceed with the production of payment lists and statements
  • Support the Finances Officer in the payments 

The successful candidate will have : 

 Qualifications and Experience : 

  • At least a bachelor’s degree + 2 in finance and accounting or in economics and management 
  • At least three years of experience in a finance department in an NGO or accounting firm
  • Experience working/partnering with a government institution (Work experience with health districts or health projects in rural areas)
  • Experience in managing large-scale mobile payments

Work-based skills: 

  • Knowledge of donors and their financial reporting requirements
  • Basic knowledge of taxation applicable to NGO operations and the partnership context with the government.
  • Basic understanding of supplier selection
  • Good knowledge of English and French (written and spoken)

This role is conditional of Malaria Consortium securing funding for this role.

This is a fixed term contract for the period of 12 months.
