Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Project Manager to join our team in Togo .

The successful candidate will be responsible for the management and coordination of the overall SMC project implementation. . Lead project implementation activities ensuring consistency with the overall multi-country programme’s performance framework, and in line with Malaria Consortium’s core values. The position holder will be responsible for the planning, the execution, the monitoring and evaluation, and reporting of the project. The position will work  under direct supervision of the Country Director and with the Country Technical Coordinator (CTC)  to manage the overall project.

Key accountabilities

Project management: (60%)

  • Responsible for coordinating overall project implementation and ensure activities are carried out on a time and within budget
  • Develop, cost and monitor annual, quarterly and (during SMC delivery period) monthly activity plans to ensure that deliverables are met and milestones achieved on time

Monitoring and Evaluation: (30%)

  • Coordinate project monitoring and evaluation activities in line with the project overall objective and national Sexual and Reproductive Health strategy;
  • Monitor the project activities at Health Directorate, Health district, Health Facility and community levels and data management as part of the project monitoring and evaluation system

Other (10%)

  • Induct  Project officers, M&E Officer and Financial accountant under his/her supervision.
  • Line-manage assigned staff and provides oversight and management support whilst ensuring staff objectives are set and monitored in line with HR guidelines.
  • Work with West and Central Africa Region country offices to resolve problem that arises and provide support in internal and external audits and donor monitoring missions.

Person specification

Qualifications and experience:        

Essential

  • Bachelor's degree or higher degree in public health, community health, health project management or similar field
  • Significant experience (at least 3 years) in project development and maintenance of routine monitoring and project / program evaluation systems
  • Substantial experience in public health project management and monitoring and evaluation  including data management
  • Experience working with the public health system in Togo
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in different environments;
  • Experience collaborating with large international organisations to achieve programme-based goals
  • Strong team management skills and the ability to work with diverse teams
  • Experience managing large projects with multi-operational sites

Desirable

  • Experience working with international organizations and/or with UN agencies
  • Project management qualification or certificate
  • Experience in risk management

Work-based skills:        

Essential

  • Functional knowledge of at least one database application related to the health field
  • Availability for travel to required project sites
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in different environments;
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team;
  • Ability to communicate and negotiate with people of different backgrounds and professions;
  • Excellent analytical skills, whose interpretation of complex information has diverse audiences;
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to dynamic environments; ability to apply knowledge and experience to solve unexpected problems
  • Ability to manage teams remotely and in person
  • Commitment to Malaria Consortium’s values and mission

Desirable

  • Knowledge and experience of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Gender Based Violence programs and activities
  • Practical knowledge of English
  • Experience with budget management responsibilities
  • Excellent monitoring and evaluation skills, including but not limited to the ability to interpret, use, and apply data

This role is conditional of Malaria Consortium securing funding for this role.  

Due to the nature of this role we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and the role might be filled and closed before the closing date. Early applications are encouraged.

This is a fixed term contract for the period of 12 months.
