Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a  Safeguarding Officer to join our People & Culture team in Abuja, Nigeria.

The post holder will report to the Global Safeguarding Advisor and is responsible for ensuring that Malaria Consortium’s safeguarding standards are implemented and maintained to protect children, young people, and vulnerable adults from harm. Based in Abuja, Nigeria, the officer provides technical leadership, training, and oversight to Safeguarding Focal Points across all country offices, promoting a consistent safeguarding culture and ensuring compliance with international standards.

Supporting policy implementation, building capacity of focal points, coordinating safeguarding efforts, and managing or escalating cases with a survivor-centered approach. The role requires up to 15% travel within Nigeria and other Malaria Consortium countries.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as international politics, international development, human rights, international law, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in INGOs/NGOs in safeguarding, PSEAH, gender-based violence (GBV), or protection capacity.
  • Previous experience supporting senior management roles, with the ability to influence and provide technical advice at leadership level.
  • Proficiency in professional written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in implementing Safeguarding and PSEAH donor’s mandatory requirements.

Due to the nature of this role we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and the role might be filled and closed before the closing date. Early applications are encouraged.

This is a fixed term contract for the period of one year with a possibility of extension.
