Malaria Consortium is recruiting for a Security Manager to join our team in Burkina Faso.

The Security Manager will be in charge of managing the day to day security of all Malaria Consortium operations to ensure the achievement of project objectives. The Security Manager will analyse complex security issues and contexts, create and continually update a country security communication tree and location specific Safety and Security Plans and associated SOPs, give sound practical safety and security advice, make decisions to support safe operations.

The successful candidate will have: 

  •  Minimum of 10 years’ experience in security management of operations in a conflict situation, with extensive experience of security management in Burkina Faso

  •  Demonstrated courses in security management

  • Has held a senior security manager role in an international NGO or relevant international structure within the last years

  • Significant experience in risk analysis and management       

  • Ability to demonstrate their links with relevant security networks in country

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  •  Ability to work independently in an organized manner but within an integrated team

  • Ability to give attention do details

  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Strong Microsoft office suite skill
  • Superior attention to detail
  • An effective communicator
  • Excellent analyst
  • A good trainer Proven writing skills in English
  • Ability to work effectively in a culturally sensitive setting
  • Ability to explain complex security issues to a non-technical audience
  • Demonstrable passion for Malaria Consortium’s mission; a strategic manager with integrity and a desire to work in a dynamic environment

  • Strong analytical skills and experience interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model

  • A collaborative and flexible style, with a strong service mentality

  • Proven representational skills

This role is conditional of Malaria Consortium securing funding for this role. 

Due to the nature of this role we will be reviewing applications on an ongoing basis and the role might be filled and closed before the closing date. Early applications are encouraged.

This is a fixed term contract for the period of 12 months.
